On a beautiful Saturday morning of 13th March 2021, Ven Moses Thabethe (Rector at St Michael’s Anglican Church- Bryanston), officiated an MU commissioning service. The lined-up repertoire just welcomed MU members back to their ‘House of Prayer’, after they had not been in church for a year due to Disaster Management Act prohibitions.
The introit was a projected video recording of “Guide me O thou great Redeemer”. In between affirmations of MU objectives and prayers, a great surprise sound of a recording of beautiful male voices by the Ministry Support Team (MST) rendering a chant of Psalm 95 - lyrics invited everyone to “sing for joy to the Lord". After commissioning “Great is thy faithfulness” video recording was part of the line-up. In closing the chorus calling for the blessings in God's name – “Hlonolofatsa is lebetso la Ntate" - sealed off.
The reading was taken from the book of Mark 10 verses 35 to 41. The theme of the sermon was “servant leadership”. Ven Moses, used the example of how Jesus used the disciples to spread the gospel of God. He stressed how humility is part of servitude. Jesus was not looking for glory but to serve and spread the good news. With those words he advised MU leadership to follow that model.
Commissioned members were Mandisa Mokgata (Parish Leader), Azande Ntshangase (Deputy Parish Leader), Asanda Mazwana (Secretary), Sinamava Mvoko (Deputy Secretary), Nosisa Miti (Treasurer), Buthiwe Mphelo (Treasurer mentee), Martha Sello (Council representative) and Phumeza Dhlamini (Council representative).
